Court of BiH confirms indictment against Vlasenica Mayor for glorifying war criminals

The Prosecutor’s Office stated that, in his capacity as mayor, Kraljevic gave a media statement on March 9, 2025, in which he glorified individuals who were finally convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

In March last year, at a gathering marking the 32nd anniversary of the deaths of soldiers from Derventa at the Vlasenica battlefield, Kraljevic expressed great respect for Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, describing them as "glorious names that should be mentioned".

"Because that is who we are, that is our reality. We are all Radovans. Just as today we are all Milorad Dodik, all the National Assembly, and in the same or similar way we defend those achievements," Kraljevic said at the time.

Detektor previously reported that the Prosecutor’s Office had not decided for months after Bakira Hasecic, president of the association ''Women Victims of War'', filed a criminal complaint against Kraljevic.

Karadzic, former President of Republika Srpska, and Mladic, former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Hague Tribunal for genocide and other crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kraljevic is also currently on trial, alongside Radenko Stanic and Goran Garic, for the persecution of Bosniak civilians in Vlasenica through unlawful detention, killings, sexual abuse, torture, enforced disappearances, and other inhumane acts committed in 1992 and 1993. The indictment against them was confirmed in February 2018, and after several postponements, the trial began in October 2019.

During 2024, Kraljevic was also reported for inappropriate conduct during the election campaign, as previously covered by Detektor, but the complaint was dismissed as unfounded, and he was elected to the same position for a third term.
