The embassy confirmed the incident for Hina, saying a first secretary at Croatia’s consulate was attacked by a larger group of unidentified individuals, who also insulted him on national grounds.
The embassy said it expected a swift and thorough investigation, the identification of those responsible and their appropriate punishment, along with a clear condemnation of what it described as a hate crime against a Croatian diplomat.
Pranjic condemned the violence, particularly as it targeted a diplomatic representative, warning that such incidents seriously undermine security and create a sense of insecurity among citizens, especially Croats as one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constituent peoples.
According to him, police in the Serb entity of Republika Srpska had been notified of the attack. He said he expected the relevant institutions to swiftly clarify the circumstances and identify those responsible, sending a clear message that such violence will not be tolerated.
