On that occasion, a meeting was held with U.S. Congressman Steny H. Hoyer, a long-time and sincere friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which key issues related to strengthening bilateral relations and political cooperation were discussed.

In addition to Minister Helez, the delegation included the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Niksic, two ministers, representatives of universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, clinical centers, the Mayor of Sarajevo, representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the defense industry, as well as the private sector.

As stated in the press release, a special honor during this visit was the meeting with Steny H. Hoyer, who, in the most difficult moments for Bosnia and Herzegovina, was a strong and consistent voice of support. As a long-time friend of the country, he has visited Bosnia and Herzegovina several times and has particularly stood out as a voice of truth and support for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.

"The way Congressman Hoyer received the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina clearly shows how much he values our country and the partnership we are building with the United States. The focus of talks was on strengthening cooperation between BiH and the U.S., deepening partnerships, and increasing investments," Minister Helez stated.

Deputy Minister of Defense Aleksandar Goganovic emphasized during the meeting that the United States is a key partner in the defense system.

During the discussions, particular attention was given to the possibility of investment in the defense industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would contribute to greater interoperability within the defense system, increased production, and alignment with NATO standards. Talks also covered the southern gas interconnection project, which would enable the country to reduce dependence on Russian gas and ensure long-term energy stability.

Additionally, topics included cooperation between universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and US higher education institutions, as well as connections between clinical centers, particularly in the areas of education and knowledge exchange, given that some of the most advanced medical achievements and leading healthcare institutions are located in the United States.

Discussions also addressed cooperation and 'twinning' between cities, as an additional bridge for connection and strengthening overall bilateral relations.
