Managers responsible for losses, low production output, outdated forestry practices, and unmet obligations to local communities are set to be dismissed. Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik made this announcement following a meeting with the leadership and supervisory board of "Forests of Republika Srpska." Dodik emphasized that underperforming managers and those involved in illegal activities will face serious consequences as part of a broader effort to clean up the forestry sector.
“The managers of the forest management units ‘Panos’ in Visegrad, ‘Zelengora’ in Kalinovik, ‘Birac’ in Vlasenica, ‘Vucevica’ in Cajnice, ‘Sjemec’ in Rogatica, ‘Vrbanja’ in Kotor Varos, and the manager of the ‘Research and Development Project Center’ in Banja Luka,” Dodik wrote on his profile on the social network “X.”
He added that within five days, additional business inspections would be conducted, and appropriate measures would be taken for the forest management units “Klekovaca-Potoci” in Istočni Drvar and “Ostrelj-Drinic” in Drinic, as well as for the public enterprise administration of “Forests of Republika Srpska.”
“All those identified as being involved in the illegal timber trade uncovered during inspections will be suspended, and their legal accountability will be established,” he stated.
To recall, police officers from the Criminal Police Administration of the RS Ministry of the Interior submitted a report to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in East Sarajevo yesterday regarding criminal acts committed by S.G. and G.P. from East Sarajevo and several unidentified persons for crimes of forest devastation, forest theft, and negligent conduct in office.
