According to BiH Presidency member, Milorad Dodik, if US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar, does not recognise the true situation in Bosnia, he will contribute to the “atrophy of the country, which the Americans, through High Representatives and the Constitutional Court of BiH, have modelled throughout previous years according to the wishes of Muslims.”
Dodik made the statement ahead of Escobar’s visit to Bosnia. According to the US Embassy in Bosnia, the US envoy will visit Sarajevo and Banja Luka and reiterate US support for BiH’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and discuss various issues, including corruption, with BiH officials.

Dodik said that Escobar must be aware that “BiH can have a future only on the basis of the BiH Constitution agreed to by all in 1995 and if its peoples and entities are fighting for it, not Americans, Russians, Europeans or High Representatives.”
“If the international factor really wants BiH to survive, then they and we have a pretty clear choice, and that is the Constitution of BiH, which no one disputes and which is unambiguous,” Dodik told the Srna news agency.
Dodik said that, if Escobar does not consider all the facts regarding the situation and looks at it a different way “then he himself will contribute to the atrophy of the country, which the Americans, through High Representatives and the Constitutional Court of BiH, modelled throughout the previous years according to the wishes of Muslims.”
He said that “the force of the international factors is no longer effective in BiH” and that the “narrative of corruption, Russian influence, the wealth of politicians in BiH” is “misplaced and the stereotype that Americans maintain in order to preserve their projections in BiH.”
Dodik said that his power stems from “the support of more than 380,000 votes” he received in the elections, and that the property he owns “has been acquired through hard and legal work for more than 40 years, and has never been challenged before any court in BiH or abroad.”
“In order to preserve my property, and Escobar knows that I entered politics 26 years ago as a wealthy man, and in order for all people in RS to preserve their property, we need peace, stability and the rule of law that I am fighting for,” he said.
