Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly obvious threat to democracy and it is necessary to find adequate answers to that challenge Dr Amira Dan, a Canadian researcher of Bosnian origin told N1.
“While artificial intelligence made great positive strides in the field of medicine, the image is getting a little blurry in the humanities and arts and it’s not clear what it will mean for us,” Dr Dan, who also works as a research associate at York University in Canada, said, adding that scientific circles are already talking about artificial intelligence as a real threat to democracy due to the model of natural language manipulation.
“These are models that perfectly imitate the way a person puts sentences together and thinks,” she pointed out, explaining how artificial intelligence processes everything that is on the Internet and all available information.
According to her, the technological development industry did not expect that there would be so many problems with the ethical aspects of working with artificial intelligence.
“This is no longer the subject of only texts, but the manipulation of voice or image, which until yesterday was reserved only for us”, Dr Amira Dan explained.
Dr Amira Dan received the Association of Fundraising Professionals Outstanding Philanthropist Award with her husband Dr Michael Dan for helping to address the health and educational inequities and inequalities that weigh so heavily on Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
