"The verdict issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the case of Milorad Dodik is final and binding and must be respected. Subjecting a court decision to a public vote runs counter to the rule of law and the independence of judicial authorities", the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina posted on X.

It also said it expected the Republika Srpska (RS) authorities to "de-escalate the situation and respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

British ambassador Julian Reilly also voiced his concern about the RS entity parliament's decision to call a referendum, calling it "unlawful."

"The Court of BiH, an independent institution, has convicted the former President of Republika Srpska, Mr. Dodik, and that verdict must be respected. Conducting a referendum on any court ruling or disobeying it would be unlawful and would undermine the rule of law and the constitutional order of BiH," Reilly stressed.

The National Assembly of the Republika Srpska adopted 13 conclusions late Friday night, including one that tasks the Collegium of the National Assembly with preparing the text of the Resolution on the self-determination of the Serb people and the Republika Srpska.
