Adria News Network (ANN) continues to operate as usual, maintaining its existing editorial structures, standards, and governance framework, the company, of which N1 is a part, said. In a statement regarding external speculation and media reports of potential investor interest, ANN said that its policy is not to comment on market speculation, shareholder discussions, or potential transactions until an official announcement is made.
The conclusion of any agreement requires the approval of the United Group Board of Directors, which has not yet met.
The investigative portal Raskrikavanje reported that United Group plans to sell its media business to the Luxembourg-based fund “European Future Media Investments,” which is backed by the Portuguese investment group Alpac Capital.
As Raskrikavanje reported, based on the final, as-yet-unsigned version of the contract it obtained, the fund will pay just 30 million euro for several regional television stations and media outlets, including N1, Nova S, and media in Montenegro, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Two Luxembourg companies have agreed on the sale of Adria News, the owner of the regional media network N1 and Nova, as well as a series of related firms in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro,” Raskrikavanje wrote.
The report also states that even though the official buyer is listed as the Luxembourg-based fund “European Future Media Investments S.C.S.” (EFMI), contract details - such as notification addresses and key figures - clearly point to the Portuguese investment firm Alpac Capital. Pedro Vargas David and Afonso Guerra are listed as the buyer’s contact persons in the contract, Raskrikavanje reported.
