The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, organized a working lunch today for leaders from the Western Balkans in Brussels.

“Today, I welcomed the leaders of six Western Balkan partners. All six countries belong to Europe. This is what we are working towards. At the same time, we are bringing their economies and markets closer to ours with our €6 billion Growth Plan for the region,” stated the President of the European Commission on the social network X.

The meeting was attended by the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Kristo, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Prime Ministers of Albania, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, Edi Rama, Hristijan Mickoski, and Milojko Spajic, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

Chairwoman Kristo informed President von der Leyen about the information sent to the European Commission regarding the level of alignment with the Reform Agenda, noting that two remaining measures still represent obligations for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairwoman Kristo also informed her about the preparations for hosting the next WB6 summit, scheduled for late this fall.

Vucic posted on social media that this was an important meeting where they would primarily discuss the European Growth Plan with the Western Balkans, the implementation of individual reform agendas, the new Commission's plans concerning the enlargement process, and the overall situation in the region.

“Our country remains committed to its European path and internal reforms aimed at joining the EU. However, our primary focus is the betterment of our citizens’ lives, economic growth, and the development of our country. Therefore, we will continue to insist on concrete steps toward EU integration, such as access to the single European market and payment systems, the introduction of green corridors, further attracting direct investments, and changing the overall economic and political atmosphere in the region. For any progress, we need peace, stability, and cooperation,” Vucic stated.
