According to the indictment, on 16 August 1993, Sestic ordered his troops to attack Kiseljak near Zepce. Six Croat civilians, mostly elderly, including two women and a 13-year-old girl, were killed and three women wounded.
Sestic also reportedly ordered the unlawful detention of remaining civilians and the creation of a “human shield,” comprising around 20 people, including minors and children under five, as well as infants, to target Croatian Defence Council (HVO) positions. One civilian was killed and two wounded during the attack.
The indictment additionally charges Sestic with detaining and abusing a journalist present at the scene.
He faces charges of war crimes against civilians, the wounded, and the sick.
