The President of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, Marinko Cavara proposed the judges of the FBiH Constitutional Court of FBiH: Ajsa Softis, Mirko Milicevic, Branimir Orasanin and Dubravko Campara. The appointment procedure will be completed after it has been confirmed by the FBiH vice-presidents and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament.

Cavara said that he expects the support of the House of Peoples in appointing these judges.

He pointed out that the attacks on the institution of the FBiH President, which, he says, happened recently and which also came from vice presidents, are unacceptable. He said that he invited the candidates from the 2019 letter from the then High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) President, Milan Tegeltija, and the 2021 President, Halil Lagumdzija, to interviews. There were a total of 32 candidates on the lists, but 25 different people because some applied twice.

“I am saddened that after my office received the call there was a rush that I cannot understand. The Vice Presidents stated that it was unconstitutional without specifying which part. It is inadmissible and unacceptable to attack the institution of the FBiH President and destroy the institutions of this country. I am very happy to have met 19 people with whom I spoke directly. I wish I could name them all because they are wonderful people,” said Cavara.

He again presented the chronology of the problem of appointing judges and talked about the existence of political influence on this institution, which, he said, was inadmissible.

He also spoke about accusations that he is blocking the appointment of judges, as well as other processes.
