Former mayor of the southern BiH city of Mostar, Ljubo Beslic, has passed away due to an illness in the Fran Mihaljevic hospital in Zagreb on Friday, Bljesak.info reported.
Beslic, born in 1958, has served as mayor of Mostar since 2004 and managed the city without the City Council from 2012 to 2021 due to a deadlock over electoral legislation, thus making history as the longest-serving mayor of the largest city in Herzegovina.
Beslic underwent a heart transplant in Zagreb in mid-February.
