Due to heavy rainfall expected over the next three days in northern and eastern Herzegovina, water levels are forecasted to rise at most hydrological stations in the Adriatic Sea basin. This increase will be particularly notable in the floodplain area of the TMT river system (Tihaljina, Mlade, Trebizat), as well as in the middle and lower Neretva River with its tributaries.
The Adriatic Sea Basin Water Agency advises the relevant institutions to monitor the situation closely and act within their jurisdiction in accordance with the FBiH Operational Flood Defense Plan.
Services responsible for protection, rescue operations, and safeguarding people and property are advised to exercise additional caution.
The competent civil protection authorities should warn residents in areas along rivers without protective water infrastructure about the dangers of approaching riverbanks due to potential increases in water depth and flow speed. They should also provide timely notifications with instructions and guidelines to ensure that residents can take necessary measures to minimize possible damage from the harmful effects of water.
