
Two European laws were adopted at an emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday: the Draft Law on Border Control of BiH and the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection of BiH.
The Draft Law on Personal Data Protection was adopted in the first reading with 30 votes in favor, 1 against, and 8 abstentions. It will now proceed to the amendment phase.
The Draft Law on Border Control, which was considered under an expedited procedure, was adopted with 20 votes in favor, 10 against, and 10 abstentions. Since there was a general and entity majority, the law was adopted.
During this session, the Law on Personal Data Protection is expected to be adopted in the second reading under a shortened procedure.
At the 27th session of the Constitutional-Legal Commission of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH), the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection, proposed under a shortened procedure by the Council of Ministers of BiH, was adopted in the second reading.
During the session of the Constitutional-Legal Commission, 14 amendments were adopted, which became an integral part of this Draft Law.
This law has been marked with the label “EI” by the Council of Ministers of BiH, indicating that it aligns with European legislation.
