Opening the embassies of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Baku and the Azerbaijani in Sarajevo would contribute to the further strengthening of relations between the two countries, said Bakir Izetbegovic, the Speaker of Bosnia's House of Peoples during his official visit to Azerbaijan on Thursday.
He met there with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, with whom he discussed the options of the improvement of cooperation, especially in the fields of metal, military and wood industries as well as the energy and tourism sectors.
Following the meeting with speaker of the National Assembly Sahiba Gafarova, Izetbegovic met in separate meetings with FM Bayramov and deputy prime minister Ali Ahmadov.
Ahmadov expressed respect towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and the progress the country has achieved over the past two decades, stressing that he is closely following the situation in BiH and that Azerbaijan strongly supports Bosnia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Izetbegovic congratulated Ahmadov and the citizens of Azerbaijan on the successful integration of its territory during the last liberation war, adding that he hopes the country will manage to rebuild the infrastructure and create conditions for living, the Fena news agency reported.
