In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the film art and outstanding acting, screenwriting and directing, John Turturro received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo on Wednesday night at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival.

“This is a wonderful, multicultural centre. I feel as comfortable as in New York, where I come from; I feel welcome and at home. Being in the arts is hard work, like working in the circus, but it can help us contribute to humanity together. That's what I try to do in my work and I don't take it for granted. I had a humble beginning and I try to remain humble in my approach to the work I do. I take this as a sign of encouragement to keep moving forward. Thank you very much,” said Turturro.

Never forgetting his Brooklyn roots, Turturro has made a global impact with his versatile body of work, making him one of the most respected filmmakers today.
