Kosovo’s Parliament voted against a resolution calling on the government to implement the Washington Agreement signed between Belgrade and Pristina last September under the auspices of former US President Donald Trump.
The Agreement specified some topics which Pristina and Belgrade should have worked on together in further attempts to normalise economic relations to start with.
It was signed by Kosovo’s former Prime Minister AvdullahHoti and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic.
The resolution was submitted by the opposition Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
The ruling Self-determination movement of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, does not want to implement the Agreement primarily because it includes the regional Open Balkan initiative accepted by Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia and the shared use of a lake Gazivode.
The Self-determination, however, said the refusal to implement the Agreement did not mean disrespect of the US.
For its part, Serbia has so far failed to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as a part of the Washington Agreement.
