Maryland National Guard partnership with BiH AF reaffirmed during Immediate Response 26 exercise
The visit of Major General Janeen Birckhead, commander of the Maryland National Guard, to Manjaca has once again reaffirmed the strong, longstanding partnership between the Maryland National Guard and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo said in a post on the X platform.
“Built on mutual trust, continuous professional cooperation and strong institutional ties, this partnership contributes to strengthening defense capabilities, improving joint operations and advancing the shared security interests of the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the post said.
The "Immediate Response 26" exercise provided an opportunity to see the results of this cooperation in the field, where units of the Armed Forces of BiH demonstrated their readiness and ability to operate in accordance with NATO standards.
The exercise is being conducted as part of NATO’s Operational Capabilities Concept Evaluation and Feedback (OCC E&F) program.
Through realistic field conditions, it assesses the readiness, operational capabilities and interoperability of selected units of the Armed Forces of BiH.
