An epidemic of the infectious disease measles has been declared in the Sarajevo Canton area in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For the duration of the epidemic, the measures provided for in the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases will be taken, the Official Gazette of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity states.
The measures include presentation and health education on the prevention of infectious diseases, early detection of sources of infection and ways of transmission, reporting, transportation and isolation, hospitalization and treatment of sick persons, enhanced immunization of children, as well as the implementation of other measures ordered by the Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton.
The statement added that the measures are financed from the regular funds received by the health institution in the current year.
The order enters into force on the day of its publication in the “FBiH Official Gazette” and the “Official Gazette of the Canton of Sarajevo”.
Earlier, the epidemic was also declared in Tuzla and Zivinice.
