Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said on Monday that Berlin's policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina was contrary to Croatian interests, following reports by the German media about Germany being concerned about the possibility that Milanovic could become Croatia's new prime minister.
Deutsche Welle reported that the fear of tectonic changes in Croatia in the event of Milanovic's victory is becoming visible among German politicians, to which Milanovic said on Monday said that he was concerned about Germany's policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I am concerned. Not only am I concerned, I am quite displeased with the policy which the dumber ones – there are the smarter and the dumber ones – pursue towards this region, towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which is extremely contrary to Croatian interests, to the interests of Zagreb and of the BiH Croats,” Milanovic told reporters during a visit to Koprivnica.
“In the European Council, where I will be representing Croatia, Croatia will have a very clear position. No can do… You will not treat us as idiots,” he said, describing Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic as perfidious, cynical and negligent and describing as “disgusting” Plenkovic's visit to Mostar on Tuesday, when BiH citizens with Croatian citizenship vote in Croatia's parliamentary elections.
“He did not do any of the things he could have done for those people (BiH Croats). At one time, that was not possible. There was a war, it was dangerous. Now, it can be done,” he added.
