The Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordic, said on Facebook that the City of Mostar refused to give consent for gatherings in support of both Israel and Palestine.

Kordic stated that his announcement is “a call to reason and solidarity with all victims of war”.

“We will not encourage or support any public gatherings that can further destabilize our society.”

“Unfortunately, the BiH society is also divided over this topic. Some emphasized support for Israel, while others supported Palestine. Although such a division is difficult to explain rationally, it has arisen and with the support of irresponsible politicians it represents a risk for our society as a whole,” he wrote.

Kordic stated that his announcement is “a call to reason and solidarity with all victims of war”.

“We will not encourage or support any public gatherings that can further destabilize our society.”

Let's be sincerely compassionate and respect the victims of all wars, he wrote, and let's stop building political careers on the basis of cheap politics.
