The Association "Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves" has submitted a request to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the verification and removal of convicted war criminals from the election process, specifically naming Najdan Mladjenovic.

“Based on information from the media that Najdan Mladjenovic, convicted of war crimes by the Court of BiH, has been appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Election Committee in Bratunac municipality, we request that, pursuant to Article 1.7.b of the BiH Election Law, which states: ‘No person convicted by any international or domestic court of genocide, crimes against humanity, or war crimes may run in elections or hold any electoral, appointed, or other office,’ he be removed from the Election Committee in Bratunac municipality,” the statement read.

The Association is demanding urgent verification of all 6,000 individuals who applied for the Central Election Commission's advertisement. They call on relevant institutions, courts, prosecutors’ offices, ministries of internal affairs, and law enforcement agencies to provide immediate support and assistance to the CEC in verifying the individuals participating in the election process.

“We hope that such oversights will not occur in the future,” the statement concluded.
