Bosnia’s Consul in Istanbul, Sinisa Mihailovic, told N1 that there is no new information about the Bosnian citizen who is trapped under debris following the devastating earthquake in Turkey, but that there is also no information about any other Bosnian victims.
Mihailovic said the fate of A.P. who was trapped under the rubble of a building in the city of Malatya on Monday remains unknown. The Bosnian was trapped under the ruins of the building of the company GOPA worldwide consultants where he works.
“There is nothing new and fortunately, so far, we do not have information about other citizens of BiH that may be trapped under the debris,” he told N1.
The quake was also felt in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, from where Nadira Besirovic Ilgar told N1 that some BiH citizens were left without homes in the country.
“It was really awful to feel those earthquakes and a certain helplessness that overwhelmed us,” she said.
Besirovic is a member of the association of Bosniak women in Turkey ‘Zambak’.
“We are trying to provide them with everything they need at the moment,” she said, adding that she has been in contact with Bosnian women who live in those affected areas.
She told N1 of a case of a Bosnian mother and daughter who lost their home in the city of Hatay after they “managed to escape at the last moment.”
“Unfortunately, they were left homeless, but they are safe and unharmed, which is important. We are currently actively looking for accommodation for them,” she said.
