One more victim of recent flash floods and landslides has been found in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing the death toll in the north of Herzegovina to 20, with local authorities trying to bring the situation back to normal and provide local residents with accommodation in container homes donated by Croatia.
According to data from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton crisis management centre, so far the bodies of 17 people killed in Jablanica and the bodies of three killed in Konjic have been found. The search for another three persons reported missing in Jablanica and two gone missing in Konjic continues.
The families whose houses were destroyed in last week's floods and rockslides will be provided with accommodation at Goransko Polje, where preparations are underway for the installation of 15 container homes donated by Croatia. Another 20 container homes are expected to arrive from Turkey.
The road between Mostar and Jablanica is still closed to traffic while roads connecting Jablanica and Konjic and Jablanica and Prozor-Rama have been repaired. Several regional roads connecting Jablanica and nearby Konjic with smaller communities are still closed to traffic due to damage caused by the floods and rockslides.
European peace forces deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina are also expected to assist local authorities in dealing with the natural disaster's consequences.
