Members of a temporary parliamentary commission of Bosnia’s House of Representatives, set up to review the situation in the judiciary, proposed the dismissal of Bosnia’s Justice Minister, Josip Grubesa, on Tuesday.

The initiative came from Zlatan Begic, a member of the left-leaning Democratic Front (DF), who said the reason behind it was the “poor results” of Grubesa's work and the fact that he did not respond when he was summoned for the session of the Commission.

Of the seven members of the Commission, six were in favour of the initiative while one, Alma Colo, from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), abstained.

“I believe that the Minister of Justice has not done anything during this mandate and I cannot assess whether his absence is intentional,” Colo said, adding that there are enough votes for the initiative to pass without her vote anyway.

The chairman of the Commission, Damir Arnaut, said that there is a possibility the initiative could be presented on Wednesday at a session of the House of Representatives.
