Trains on the railways through Republika Srpska will not operate until our salaries for August, along with the corresponding social contributions, are paid, said Dragan Peulic, president of the Independent Union of Railway Transport Workers of 'Zeljeznice RS', told FENA.
He confirmed that as of last night, just after midnight, work on the RS Railways (ZRS) has been halted, stressing that since then, there has been no passenger or freight rail traffic.
"Almost all employees are on strike, except for section chiefs. I must say that the management is pressuring them to deliver disciplinary procedure notices to the workers," Peulic emphasised.
He pointed out that the Union did not organise the strike, but by the workers themselves, who are demanding their gross salaries.
''However, if any worker faces problems, the Union will of course stand behind them,'' Peulic stated.
At the end of last year, ZRS employed around 1,800 workers.
