Rain helps stabilize fire on Pljesevica, BiH Armed Forces air support requested

The fire in the Pljesevica area near Bihac is not currently threatening the high coniferous forest. After about an hour of rain today, there are no open flames at the fire site. However, the wind has intensified smoke from burning tree stumps, prompting firefighting crews to continue monitoring the area around the clock.

According to information from the City of Bihac, particular attention is being paid to the fire line where the blaze could potentially spread toward the high coniferous forest. That part of the fire site is being continuously protected and monitored from the forest road.
Air support from helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina was previously requested to fight the fire in an inaccessible part of the affected area. Following the request and the submission of coordinates, and a renewed request with updated coordinates yesterday, authorities in Bihac have not yet received feedback on the possibility of deploying a helicopter.
Members of the Bihac Firefighting Unit, the Una-Sana Forestry company and Bihac public utility company Vodovod are engaged in firefighting and monitoring operations, with their water tankers continuously supplying water to the site.
Although the current weather conditions are helping stabilize the situation, monitoring of the fire site is continuing to prevent the fire from reigniting and spreading toward forest areas.
The City of Bihac said that the relevant services remain on the ground and continue to monitor the situation, particularly in parts of the fire site where difficult terrain is hampering firefighting efforts from the ground.
