Republika Srpska assembly passes laws increasing public sector salaries

Under an urgent procedure, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS) passed a set of laws on Monday evening to increase salaries for public sector employees.

Among the adopted measures is the Law on Salaries for Employees in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which includes a 10 percent increase in salary coefficients for all employees. Additionally, police officers will receive a 30 percent allowance on their base salary for the difficulty, nature, and special conditions of their work.

The Assembly also approved the Law on Salaries for Employees in Public Services, the Law on Salaries for Employees in Public Health Institutions, Draft Law on Salaries for Employees in the Cultural Sector, and amendments to the Law on Salaries for Employees in Primary and Secondary Schools and Student Dormitories in Republika Srpska.

Further, amendments were passed to the Law on Salaries in Higher Education and Student Standards, the Law on Salaries for Employees in Administrative Bodies, and the Law on Salaries for Employees in Judicial Institutions of Republika Srpska. Decisions for the immediate implementation of these laws were also adopted.

The session will continue Tuesday at 10:15 am with discussions on Draft Amendments to the Law on Debt Write-Off. The agenda also includes Draft Amendments and Supplements to the Law on the Rights of Veterans, Military Invalids, and Families of Fallen Soldiers of Republika Srpska.
