President of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that he hopes for Donald Trump's victory in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, Dodik recalled supporting the former American president during his 2016 campaign.
“We know, as does he, that most Serbs living in the U.S. voted for him. I was invited to his inauguration,” Dodik said.
However, Dodik recalled that in 2016 he submitted a visa application to the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the inauguration, but the “Democratic administration in America placed him on the sanctions list two days before departure,” preventing him from traveling to Washington.
“I remain on the sanctions list to this day. I am not angry at the U.S., but at the ‘rogue’ officials of the American government. It may seem that I have reasons to be angry with Trump as well, since he had four years to lift the sanctions imposed on me and did not do so. Perhaps he could not,” Dodik noted.
The entity president emphasized that he still hopes for Trump's victory to make it “easier to work with the U.S.”
