RSNA adopts Declaration on protection of ethnic and political rights of Serbs

Republika Srpska (RS) entity's National Assembly (RSNA) adopted the Declaration on "protection of ethnic and political rights and the common future of the Serb people", which was proposed at the "All-Serb Assembly" held in June in Belgrade.

The aforementioned Declaration was adopted with 62 votes in favour and three against.

Along with the Declaration, the conclusions agreed upon by the caucuses of representatives were also adopted. The conclusions were adopted with 62 votes in favour, two against and one abstention.

Serb Democratic Party (SDS) and Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) caucuses withdrew their amendments, RTRS reported.

Below, you read the conclusions of the Declaration that was just adopted:

1. The RSNA states that the voters in the RS, declared in the referendum held on September 25, 2016, that January 9 should be marked and celebrated as the Day of the Republika Srpska and the patron saint day.

2. The RSNA believes that Sretenje, February 15, should be defined as the Day of All-Serb Statehood, which should be united and celebrated together with the Republic of Serbia.

3. The RS Government is tasked to form the Organizing Committee for the celebration of January 9 – the Day of the Republika Srpska, in cooperation with the RS President and the RSNA Speaker.

4. The RSNA states that with the adoption and entry into force of the Law on Immunity of the RS (“Official Gazette of the RS”, number 39/24) there are no obstacles for a holder of executive power to be appointed as a member of the Organizing Committee for the celebration of January 9 – the Day of the RS.

5. These conclusions enter into force on the following day from the date of adoption, the RSNA announced.
