During the meeting at the airport, the participants discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation, with a particular focus on the long-term initiative to establish direct air routes between Sarajevo and destinations in the United States, the Sarajevo International Airport said.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. It was noted that the Sarajevo International Airport has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH (AmCham BiH) since August 2026, and that joint activities are planned in the coming period aimed at connecting Bosnian-Herzegovinian and US companies and promoting investment, trade, exports and new business partnerships.

The meeting also addressed the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, improving security standards, cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), cybersecurity, protection against unauthorized drone use, and the airport’s future development projects, including the planned implementation of an Automated Border Control (ABC) Gates system.

The US Embassy representatives toured the airport terminal, EVIP and the Business Class Lounge, and were briefed on ongoing development projects and plans to further improve the passenger experience.

The Sarajevo International Airport remains strongly committed to developing international connectivity, strengthening security standards and enhancing business cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. More destinations also mean more opportunities for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Improved air connectivity contributes to the development of tourism, the economy, trade, investment, culture and sports, while further strengthening the international competitiveness of the country.

As Bosnia and Herzegovina’s key transportation and business gateway to the world, the Sarajevo International Airport will continue to actively work on opening new markets, connecting people and creating new opportunities for citizens, businesses and international partners.
