More than 50 professors and associates of the Sarajevo University Faculty of Philosophy expressed support for the recent mass protest in Sarajevo, demanding resignations from those they say are most responsible for the health crisis Bosnia is currently in due to a lack of COVID-19 vaccines, primarily the Council of Ministers and the Government of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity.
In the letter, titled ‘A demand for life and dignity’, and also signed by the Dean of the Philosophy Faculty, Muhamed Dzelilovic, as well as prominent academicians, Esad Durakovic and Senahid Halilovic, the professors call on their colleagues from other faculties to join them in their support for the April 6 protest.

This is a time when “science, morality and uncompromising determination can direct this state and society in the right direction,” they wrote, arguing that Bosnia's institutions are “responsible for this catastrophic situation.”
“The lack of vaccines at this time is comparable to ‘premeditated murder’. Planned/unplanned, conscious/unconscious destruction of life in the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the work of the state of BiH, ie those arrogant, insolent and unprofessional people within the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Government of FBiH and all supporting services of these institutions,” the letter said.
“Therefore, we demand that all those responsible within these institutions apologize to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their unscrupulous performance of work and that they resign (finally, with some honour). If this does not happen, we university workers, together with other citizens gathered around the ‘Fight for Life’ initiative, will demand our rights for all of us on the streets. We will not give up our rights!” they wrote.
