Sarajevo authorities will mark the Day of Remembrance dedicated to victims of the 1992-95 war in the city and the 27th anniversary of the so-called Markale massacre, when a 120 mm mortar shell fired from a Bosnian Serb artillery position killed 68 residents and injured 142 on the downtown market, with a commemorative session on Friday.
Due to the pandemic measures, only the chairmen of the cantonal, city and municipal assemblies, as well as the mayor, will hold the joint commemorative session at the Sarajevo National Theatre.
The participants will afterwards lay flowers at the Markale monument.
