Shekerinska says stability of Bosnia and Western Balkans important for NATO and EU

Radmila Shekerinska, NATO Deputy Secretary General, said in an interview with N1 that the alliance will not allow any threat to security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also that it will continue to actively work with partners to ensure the extension of the ALTHEA mission in the country next month.

She said among other things that NATO has been "truly committed" to Bosnia and Herzegovina for over 30 years and it remains so.
She added that there is a very clear sense of commitment to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The alliance, she stressed, has been concerned about some recent events that could jeopardize the path of Bosnia and Herzegovina so she sent a clear message in all her meetings in Sarajevo and called on all political actors in the country to respect the rule of law and the court decision regarding the former President of Republika Srpska entity Milorad Dodik.

As for the extension of the ALTHEA mission - the EU military deployment in Bosnia overseeing the peace implementation, she said that all partners agreed that the mandate renewal is a priority.
