In the last 24 hours 5,076 coronavirus cases, out of 52,602 tests, and 16 related deaths have been confirmed in Slovenia, the national public health institute said on Wednesday.

This was 6,000 fewer new cases than the day before and the number of new cases is down on the week as well. The seven-day average of daily infections is 9,991 and the 14-day incidence is 8,239 per 100,000 population.

There are 173,691 active cases, including 812 hospitalised COVID patients, of whom 146 are in intensive care. The death toll has risen to 6,028.

Also today, Prime Minister Janez Janša said he self-tested positive.
