Following the meeting with their Slovenian counterpart, Bosnia Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic said that that Pirc Musar was extremely interested in the stage of fulfilling of the European Union's conditions towards the full membership.

“The president was interested in what stage we are in, what is happening when it comes to those requests that come before the authorities in BiH from the EU, even from individual countries, what are the expectations and I think, allow me to be free to say, that we have a reason for optimism when it comes to what is expected from Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Komsic.

The end of March is the date when Bosnia and Herzegovina will learn whether it will get a green light to open the accession negotiations with the EU.

“If BiH meets what is required of it, it would be a very bad message if we do not get the opening of negotiations, we should also take into account that side of the coin when we talk about BiH's EU path,” he added.

The memory of the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo

Pirc Musar said that she was particularly glad to be there on the anniversary of the Sarajevo Winter Olympic Games.

“We remember very well how we all played a very important role in making those Olympic Games very successful. It is important to note that the Winter Olympic Games were organised in a communist state at the time and that what had happened before was that no country blocked the arrival in Sarajevo. This was the success of all the peoples of the former state,” she stressed.

Pirc Musar also noted that the countries of the Western Balkans should become EU member states by 2030, which brings many benefits.

“If anything in the EU is a big advantage and a big plus, it is the development of individual countries that have joined the EU and show that young people stay if they are given good prosperity,” she noted.

Officials of the both countries agreed that Bosnia and Slovenia are excellent friends and that the improvement of economic cooperation should continue.
