Srebrenica residents gathered in protest on Sunday evening at the invitation of the local priest, after two men were arrested in the town on suspicion that they had committed the criminal offence of causing public danger because shots were fired from a convoy of vehicles escorted by the Republika Srpska (RS) entity police, while it passed through Potocari.

As stated at the rally, the organizer was the local priest Aleksandar Mladjenovic, who said that Goran Aleksic and Nikola Grujicic were arrested.

“We came to make a public protest to say that we want to celebrate our holidays in peace and freedom. No one touched anyone. Everyone celebrates this most joyous Serb holiday with their neighbours,” said Mladjenovic.

The local mayor, Mladen Grujicic, also appeared at the rally.

“We didn’t come to attack the police, but to express dissatisfaction with the double standard of the prosecutor who condemns Serbs as if only Serbs exist here,” he said.

A video surveillance footage from one of the houses captured the moment of the passage of a convoy of vehicles decorated with the flags of the RS and Serbia, as well as the moment of a shot from a blue van.

Earlier, provocations were also recorded in Vlasenica.
