"They lined us up against the wall, holding an automatic rifle," the migrants who were the victims of a robbery said about a recent incident which resulted in the arrest of four policemen in Banja Luka.

The migrants said that, after they left a bar, the policemen escorted them to a street near the bus station where there was no light. Two more policemen were waiting for them there.

“They ordered us to face the wall and raise our hands”, said Mas Tahiri, a migrant from Afghanistan, during his testimony.

The migrants were searched, and the police officers stole 700 euros from them.

“I protested because they were taking our money, but then a policeman punched me in the head, after which I stopped resisting,” added Tahiri.
He said that one of the officers was giving them orders in English.

Tahiri’s testimony was confirmed by Mustafa Hejdari and Ferdavs Kaharzada, who added that the policemen who waited for them in the dark were masked and armed with automatic rifles.

During their testimony, the migrants clearly specified that they were taken to the alley by the very policemen who took them out of the bar at the bus station that evening. Prosecutors determined that those officers were Bojan Stankovic and Milos Bajic, who were ordered to one-month detention on suspicion that they committed the crime of robbery.

The migrants, who wished to stay anonymous, reported the robbery on November 8 this year.

The first official announcement about the arrest of the two policemen was made by the District Public Prosecutor's Office of Banjaluka three days after the report.
After the prosecution released its statement, the Banjaluka Police Department announced that the officers would be removed from service and that internal proceedings would be initiated.
