Threatening letter sent to Orthodox cathedral in Tuzla, authorities investigating

“On September 30, 2025, a priest of the Orthodox Church of the Holy Mother of God in Tuzla reported to Police Station Centar that the church had received a letter containing threats, sent from Tuzla Correctional Facility. Police officers from PS Centar responded to the report, and the cantonal prosecutor was informed. Following the prosecutor’s instructions, investigators from the Criminal Police Department of Tuzla Police Administration are undertaking further measures to establish the circumstances and document the incident,” the Ministry stated.

The Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office added that forensic examinations will also be conducted.

“Once investigators from the Criminal Police Department of Tuzla submit their report, the Prosecutor’s Office will carry out the required forensic tests and take all other investigative steps regarding the incident. The media and public will be duly informed,” said Admir Arnautovic of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Local media report that the threats were allegedly made by Dzevad Hasic, who desecrated the cathedral earlier in July this year.
