In June 2024, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 204,170 tourist visits, marking an 8.2% increase compared to May 2024 and a 20.2% increase compared to June 2023. Tourists achieved 411,998 overnight stays in June 2024, which is 11% more than in May 2024 and 20.7% more than in June 2023, according to the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Domestic tourists accounted for 26.6% of the total overnight stays, while foreign tourists made up 73.4%. The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists decreased by 2.8% compared to May 2024 and by 2.5% compared to June 2023. Conversely, the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in June 2024 increased by 17% compared to May 2024 and by 32.2% compared to June 2023.
In June 2024, the highest number of overnight stays among foreign tourists were from:
– Saudi Arabia: 15.2%
– Turkey: 10.5%
– Serbia: 9.3%
– Croatia: 7.2%
– Slovenia: 4.4%
– Poland: 3.8%
– Germany: 3.7%
– United States: 3.7%
– China: 3.5%
These countries collectively accounted for 61.3% of the total foreign tourist overnight stays. Tourists from other countries made up the remaining 38.7%.
The net room occupancy rate in June 2024 was 40.5%, and the permanent bed occupancy rate was 31.7%. In June 2023, the room occupancy rate was 36%, and the permanent bed occupancy rate was 27.3%.
Hotels and similar accommodation types represented the majority of overnight stays, accounting for 94.0% of the total.
