The American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina reacted to the Croat Democratic union (HDZ BiH) deputy's proposal to amend the Law on the Financing of BiH Institutions with the aim of enabling the payment of salaries in cash. These amendments are modeled on those previously passed by the Republika Srpska (RS) entity parliament, allowing the people from the US blacklist to receive salaries. Pročitaj više

“Yesterday, Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) MP Predrag Kozul put forward proposed changes to the Law on Financing of the Institutions of BiH, which would allow for salary payments to personnel employed in state-level institutions to be made in cash. Such changes, which are similar to amendments to the RS Labor Law adopted by the RS National Assembly on April 18, represent a clear effort to avoid sanctions enforcement.

As Treasury Acting Assistant Secretary Anna Morris noted during her March visit, the United States closely monitors such efforts, and there are potential consequences for those who support them and support sanctioned parties.

The United States will make full use of all enforcement mechanisms to uphold U.S. sanctions regimes and deter corrupt, destabilizing, or anti-Dayton actions,” the US Embassy wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
