US supports Schmidt's decision to unblock govt formation in Federation BiH

"The United States fully supports the High Representative’s actions today to help Bosnia and Herzegovina move towards Euro-Atlantic integration. The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina need and deserve a functional, efficient, and accountable government," Blinken said on Twitter.

Blinken shared a post by the US Embassy in Sarajevo warning critics of the High Representative that his intervention was necessary because local politicians were unable to resolve the problem they themselves had created.

The US Embassy said that "another period of the government in technical mandate would be harmful and destabilizing not just to the Federation, but to all of BiH."

"We hope all parties will seize this opportunity to deliver the governance that BiH citizens have been denied over the past four years. Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a functional, efficient, and accountable government in the Federation to move towards Euro-Atlantic integration. True patriotism is about creating a better future for your fellow citizens," the Embassy said.
