The campaign brought together numerous volunteers with the shared goal of restoring nature and preserving Blidinje’s natural heritage, according to a post on the Municipality of Posusje’s Facebook page.
Contributors included mountaineers, university students, primary and secondary school pupils, the Hajduk Supporters' Association, the Civil Protection Administration of West Herzegovina Canton, professional and volunteer fire brigades, the Boranka Volunteers Association, Posusje Cycling Club and the Red Cross.
The initiative was also supported by Posusje Mayor Ante Begic, West Herzegovina Canton Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection Mate Loncar, director of the West Herzegovina Canton Forest Management Company Marijo Kovac, and acting director of the Posusje Tourist Board Josipa Nenadic.
The municipality stressed that every sapling planted represents a step towards a greener Blidinje and a healthier natural environment for future generations, highlighting the importance of joint efforts.
The second phase of reforestation is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, when volunteers will plant the remaining 2,500 saplings. Organizers have invited all interested residents to join the campaign's final stage.
