The 28th anniversary of the deaths of 39 Croat civilians and veterans was marked on Stipica livada above Doljani, Bosnia's Jablanica Municipality.

Numerous military and civilian delegations laid wreaths and lit candles for all the victims, and the commemoration program continued with a Mass of Remembrance.

On behalf of the anniversary organizers, Ivan Rogić said that “no one has yet been held accountable for the crime committed by members of the RBiH Army who killed and massacred 39 Croat civilians and soldiers on July 28, 1993.”

He also stated that today there are some 500 Croats living in the Municipality of Jablanica, mostly in the parish of Doljani, compared to 1991 when 2,220 of them lived in that area.

Former concentration camp detainee Marinko Ljoljo said that “it is unbelievable that no one has yet been held accountable for the crime committed on Stipia livada, despite the case being clear and well-argued.”

He believes that there are several reasons for this and one of them is “the negligence of the Court, the Prosecution and politics.”

Stipica livada, a place above Doljan in Jablanica municipality, is the place where crimes were committed against 33 Croat soldiers and 6 civilians on the morning of July 28, 1993, when they were killed by members of the then Army of the Republic of BiH.

During the incursion into Doljane, on July 28, 1993, 17 Croats were killed in Doljani, and then 22 people on Stipica livada. At that time, 39 civilians and soldiers were slaughtered or shot in one of the most serious crimes committed against ethnic Croats in BiH. Apart from the fact that one indictment was filed before the Mostar Cantonal Court, which was rejected, no one was held accountable for this horrific crime.

All the surviving villagers, over 200 of them, mostly women and children, were arrested and taken to Jablanica, where they were detained until March 1, 1994, after which they were exchanged.
