Bosnia's legendary football player and coach, Ivica Osim, will get a street named after him in his hometown Sarajevo, nearly a year after he passed away.

The decision was adopted by the Sarajevo Canton Assembly with 25 votes in favour.

The future Ivica Osim Boulevard will pass by the Grbavica Stadium, where he started creating his football career as a young player.

Previously, he got a plaque at the stadium entrance, with his words engraved in the stone.

“I am leaving and it's over…the only thing I can do for that city so you can also remember that I was born in Sarajevo, and you know what is happening,” reads the message on the plaque, signed by Ivica Osim (1941-2022).

Osim died on May 1, 2022 at the age of 81.
