The meeting between Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Administration of the Russian Federation, ended on a positive note.

The aim of the meeting was to lift the ban on export of apples from Bosnia, which was imposed due to certain irregularities from the Bosnian side.

“The Russian side will analyse all the information we provided them with and then they will send their inspectors to Bosnia. There is no doubt that the final result will be in favour of Bosnian exporters,” Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister Mirko Sarovic said.

He said that the Russian side was very satisfied with the fact that the competent Bosnian authorities improved the system for the issuance of phytosanitary certificates and the product-origin forms.

He stressed it was very important that the Ministry reacted quickly and prevented such a ban from being imposed on any other export from Bosnia, such as other fruit and vegetables.

Sarovic said that prior to abolishing the ban, the Russian side intends to re-examine everything that was done in the field, and then to make their decision.

The Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Administration of the Russian Federation imposed the said ban because one of the Bosnian exporters attempted to re-export apples previously purchased from Poland.
