The number of unemployed persons is over 466,000, said Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Labour and Employment Agency. The data from March 31st said that the number of unemployed persons has decreased by over 6,000 persons, or by 1.4 percent compared to the February. Over 253,000 or 54.41 percent of the total number of unemployed were women.
The unemployment rate has decreased in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, a semi-autonomous entity in Bosnia, ba over 5,000 persons (1,56 percent), in Republika Srpska entity, the other semi-autonomous entity in Bosnia, by over 1,000 persons (0.97 percent) and in Brcko District, a district in Bosnia, by 99 persons (0.91 percent).
The highest number of registered unemployed are persons with only the elementary school education – the ‘qualified’ labour force – 32.67 percent, and workers with high school education – 27.89 percent.
According to the Statistics Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of employees in Bosnia, in February 2018, was 791,397, out of which 334,625 were women. Compared to January 2018, the number of employees has increased by 0.1 percent, and the number of employed women has also increased by 0.4 percent.
The registered unemployment rate for February 2018 was 37.4 percent and compared to January 2018 it was reduced by 0.1 percent.
