Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegovic said that Republika Srpska (RS) entity’s 19th Report to the UN Security Council s a frivolous act aimed at homogenizing the electoral body in that entity.
“The so-called Report submitted by RS authorities to the United Nations’ Security Council is an inadmissible act intended for voters in this entity, not the United Nations. This is because the entities in Bosnia do not have the attributes of a state, nor are they in charge of international affairs, according to the Bosnian Constitution. As in the case of all previous reports, the UN Security Council will not take the report into consideration. This so-called, Report contains a number of untruths which are well known to the local audience, among which is the statement on the strengthening of Bosnia’s arms industry. The strengthening of Bosnia’s arms industry is in function of strengthening of the defence of every country and thus of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it stabilizes peace and deters conflict,” said Bakir Izetbegovic in a written statement to N1.
The RS President Milorad Dodik sent the 19th Report to the UN Security Council. The report deals with the need to implement the original Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the Bosnian war of 1992-1995, the ‘alse allegations of militarization directed against the Republika Srpska and the necessity of holding free elections in Bosnia without any foreign interference.
“The United States must fully disclose the funds they provided to the Bosnian media and stop using these funds to influence the elections,” states the accompanying letter of the said Report. It further states that “the Democratic Action Party (SDA) blocks the execution of the Bosnian Constitutional Court's decision on the Election Law because it wants to retain the possibility that Bosniaks elect not only Bosniak but also Croat representatives.”
Namely, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a verdict two years ago, deleting several articles from the Election Law due to unequal representation of constituent peoples in the House of Peoples of FBiH.
The report also addresses contains a section titled “The growing threat of jihadist terrorism in Bosnia”, which also mentions SDA.
“During the war, SDA invited the mujaheddin to Bosnia and continues to maintain close ties with radical Islamists. Bosnia’s policies and the non-functional Bosnian security apparatus, which is dominated by SDA, also contributed to converting Bosnia into a jihadi refuge,” the report states.
It adds that RS has no plans for secession but it insists on full implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.”
