The Western Balkans urgently needs European perspective otherwise the misfortunes experienced in the past may repeat, said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker addressing a conference on topic “Solidarity in Europe” in Florence on Friday.
According to Juncker, the official Brussels should take a firmer stance on a common foreign policy of the EU, and Europe should pay more attention to the protection of its external borders.
During his speech, President Juncker expressed concern over the “cracks” that have emerged in the solidarity in Europe since the migration crisis.
European Parliament President Antonio Tajani said that the EU member states should act together to provide security to all citizens of the Union.
“The problem with migrants cannot be solved by the countries in the south of Europe alone, solidarity is the key,” agencies quoted Tajani as saying.
