During the opening of the Police Training Centre for police officers of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegovic said the fight against organized crime must be a significant segment in the work of the police.

Without that fight, there will neither be a safe environment for the citizens nor a suitable climate for investments and renewal of the economy.

“Therefore, I encourage you to be determined and to courageously confront this illness of our society, in all its forms,” Izetbegovic said, congratulating the May 15th, the Police Day of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Police, hoping that the police of this Canton will celebrate every future May 15th in even better conditions.

He stressed the importance of training and equipping the police to carry out their work professionally. Izetbegovic said the opening of this modern training centre is an example of what police should have.

“As a military defends the borders and the territorial integrity of a country in times of war, the police has to defend the stability, security and the rule of law of a country in times peace,” Izetbegovic concluded his address.

The Zenica-Doboj Canton Interior Ministry’s Commissioner Semir Sut said that the Training Centre consists of a helipad, a pool, a shooting range, and other facilities which will be of use to the police officers of this canton, whose total value was BAM 8 million (around EUR 4 million). The Centre will be available to other police units in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity.
